What is the meta title?
Themeta title, also known asthe title tag, is, alongside themeta description, the main component ofsnippetson theSERP. Meta titles and descriptions are importantranking factorsfor Google.Â
Meta data isadditional informationabout the individual page of the website. Accordingly, the meta title does not necessarily have to be visible to the user on the page itself.

What is the optimal length for the meta title?
On average, a meta title should be between50 and 70 characterslong. Titles that are too long areautomatically shortenedand are no longer fully readable.
But it's not that simple!Â
Even though many testing tools take thenumber of charactersinto account when creating meta titles, the correct display of the title depends on thepixel width. This is approximately920 pixelsin the mobile view and approximately580 pixelsin the desktop view. The results on theSERPare displayed in the Arial font by default. Not every character has thesame width in this font. Therefore, be sure to check that your titles are displayed correctly in the search results!

What should a good meta title contain?
Create the title according to the well-known AIDA principle:
- Attention: Get attention
- Interest: Spark interest
- Desire: Offer added value
- Action: Include a call to action in the imperative
A meta title should answerthree questionsfor searchers:
- What contentis hidden behind the link?
- Whoprovides the content?
- What benefitdoes the user gain from clicking on the link?
