AEO Agency Awards 2026: Who Leads Which Ranking in Germany

AEO agency awards in Germany come from five sources in 2026: Review-based rankings from OMR Reviews and Agenturtipp.de, the German SEO Contest run by Seobility and Agenturtipp.de, jury and audience awards such as the BVDW Search Award, the SEO quality certificate of the BVDW, and partner programs such as Google Partner. AEO (answer engine optimization), also called generative engine optimization or GEO, gets companies named in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google’s AI answers. We scored eight agencies on nine publicly verifiable proof types as of October 4, 2026. In this scoring, taismo meets 8 of 9 proof types and ranks first, ahead of HECHT INS GEFECHT with 6 and Claneo with 5. Every placement in this article comes with its publisher and date.

AEO agency awards at a glance: The five types that matter in Germany
AEO as an agency service is young, and dedicated awards for it are still rare in 2026. Most proofs therefore come from search engine marketing as a whole. If you search for agency awards in English, you mostly find international directories and global award programs. The German market runs on its own system of portals, associations, and competitions that are hardly known outside the country. Five types of proof shape it:

OMR Reviews: A dated SEO comparison and a live category
OMR Reviews is the review platform of OMR, the Hamburg media company behind the OMR Festival for digital marketing. It has two formats for agencies. The comparison article “Top SEO Agencies 2026” of July 31, 2026 presents eight agencies editorially in a fixed order. The category for GEO agencies is a live list: OMR sorts it by default by the OMR Score, which results from the reviews on the profiles.
Agenturtipp.de: Rankings by discipline and city
Agenturtipp.de is a German agency comparison portal with live rankings for disciplines such as SEO, GEO, online marketing, or Google Ads, nationwide and for individual cities. An algorithm calculates the order from the reviews on Agenturtipp.de and on Google. The top places of a list appear as “Agentursieger 2026” (agency winner 2026).
German SEO Contest: Rankings under competition conditions
At the SEO Contest run by Seobility and Agenturtipp.de, participants optimize a website for an invented keyword. In 2026 the keyword was “Serponado”, with about 200 registered participants. Google rankings on three dates in June 2026 decided the result, weighted at 15, 25, and 60 percent. In 2025, the keyword was “Keywordkönig” (keyword king), with more than 100 participants.
Jury and audience awards: BVDW Search Award, European Search Awards, and OMR
The BVDW Search Award is the award of the German Association for the Digital Economy (BVDW) and IAB Switzerland for projects in search engine marketing, with the categories SEA, SEO, and Future of Search. The first round took place in 2025, the second follows in 2027. The European Search Awards honor projects from across Europe. For the OMR Masterclass Audience Choice Award, the audience of the OMR Festival votes on the best of more than 300 masterclasses; in 2026 with almost 9,000 ratings.
Audits and programs: BVDW and Google
For the SEO quality certificate of the BVDW, a neutral body assesses an agency’s working methods, client satisfaction, experience, and engagement, partly on selected client projects. The certificate is valid for two years. Agencies sign the BVDW Code of Conduct for search engine optimization as a voluntary commitment to fair practices. Google Partner is Google’s partner program for agencies that manage Google Ads accounts.
Lists without ranks: iBusiness Top 100 SEO service providers
The trade magazine iBusiness publishes the Top 100 SEO service providers every quarter, together with the BVDW and a data partner. According to iBusiness, the list is sorted by postal code and assigns no ranks. Because it forms no ranking, it is not part of our scoring.

Agenturtipp.de, GEO agencies (as of October 4, 2026)
The live ranking for GEO agencies is led by 4eck Media, HECHT INS GEFECHT, and Netzbekannt; Suchhelden, Claneo, DREIKON, and Aufgesang are among those that follow in the top 10. In three other Agenturtipp.de rankings, taismo holds 2nd place: Among online marketing agencies in Munich, among Google Ads agencies in Munich, and among WooCommerce agencies nationwide (as of September 28, 2026).
German SEO Contest by Seobility and Agenturtipp.de, 2026 and 2025
Benny Windolph (HECHT INS GEFECHT) won the 2026 contest ahead of Sinem Cukurlu (Optimerch) and Miriam Bork (Semotion). Dominik Breitbach finished among the top 5 of about 200 participants for taismo, together with Michael John (NETZhelfer). The year before, Semtrix won ahead of ARISE and HECHT INS GEFECHT; HECHT INS GEFECHT also received the award for the highest visibility in AI search engines.
Jury and audience awards 2025 and 2026
- BVDW Search Award 2025: Claneo, category “Beste B2C SEO Strategie & Umsetzung” (best B2C SEO strategy and implementation), with a project for the building society Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall.
- European Search Awards 2025: Gold for experics in the category “Best Use of Content Marketing”, presented on May 8, 2025 in Kraków.
- OMR Masterclass Audience Choice Award 2026: Claneo for a masterclass on GEO as the new SEO for ChatGPT, Gemini, and AI search.
How the overall ranking works: 9 proof types, equally weighted
The overall ranking counts how many independent types of proof an agency can show. Client reviews, competitions, juries, associations, and platforms each test something different. An agency that performs well in many of these systems is confirmed more broadly than an agency with a single top spot.
The field: We included every agency that ranks in the top ten of at least two of the four major 2026 rankings: OMR “Top SEO Agencies 2026”, the OMR category for GEO agencies, the Agenturtipp.de ranking for GEO agencies, and the SEO Contest 2026. Eight agencies meet that condition.

- OMR comparison: Places 1 to 5 in the OMR comparison “Top SEO Agencies 2026” (July 31, 2026).
- AI search agency list: Places 1 to 5 in the OMR category for GEO agencies or in the Agenturtipp.de ranking for GEO agencies (as of October 4, 2026).
- Competition: Places 1 to 10 in the SEO Contest by Seobility and Agenturtipp.de in 2025 or 2026.
- Review-based ranking: Places 1 to 3 in an Agenturtipp.de ranking for SEO, GEO, or online marketing, nationwide or in the city list of the headquarters; for headquarters near a major city, that city’s list counts (as of September 28, 2026).
- Jury or audience award: An award in search engine marketing from 2025 or 2026.
- Audit: The SEO quality certificate of the BVDW.
- Code: Signature of the BVDW Code of Conduct for search engine optimization.
- Partner program: Google Partner at any level.
- AEO on the agency’s own website: A reachable llms.txt and a Person node in the structured data of the home page, measured on October 4, 2026.

Are AEO agency awards legit? 4 checks that take minutes
Every award can be verified in a few minutes. Four steps are enough:
- Step 1, open the source: A reputable agency links every placement to the publisher’s page. There you can see whether the agency really appears in the named list.
- Step 2, read the date and the category: Every placement belongs to a category, a region, and a cutoff date. Live lists change with every new review, while dated comparisons keep their cutoff date.
- Step 3, check the size of the field: The number of participants or listed agencies is usually in the source. A top spot among 200 participants carries a different weight than one in a small field.
- Step 4, look at the agency’s website: For AEO, this is the most revealing test. Structured data, an llms.txt, and consistent company details everywhere show whether the agency applies what it sells. What belongs to AI visibility as a service is described on our page about AEO and GEO services.
If the source page is in German, a browser translation is enough for steps 1 to 3; the names, numbers, and dates stay the same. The next major jury award in German search engine marketing is the BVDW Search Award 2027. The schedule according to the BVDW:

In Germany, AEO agencies prove their quality in 2026 mainly through review-based rankings such as OMR Reviews and Agenturtipp.de, SEO competitions, jury and audience awards such as the BVDW Search Award, and audits such as the BVDW SEO quality certificate. Dedicated awards for AEO alone are still rare.
Are AEO agency awards legit?
An award is legitimate if the publisher’s page lists the agency in the named category with a date and you can see how the rank came about. Lists that an agency publishes about itself are marketing and prove nothing on their own.

A place in a review-based ranking shows how satisfied the clients who left a review are with an agency. Also check the cutoff date, the category, and the number of agencies listed.
